Hello!! Thanks for join with us again, today we will show you how to create a Text effect as if it was created with carbon fiber. We will show you how to get this text effect in Photoshop. We used some carbon texture images as shown as below resources section. Plus we did use an inspired “DO” logo as we have used it in some other tutorials. The step by step guide for making that logo in illustrator can be found here. So, let’s get started!
The text effects in Ps, run from very light to very complicated effects. For these, you can use any or most of the effects in Ps. In getting a text effect, you have to have proper typo or font and have to have the proper final effect that you’ve got in our mind. In order to process that design in your mind, you can use Ps Brushes, images textures, 3d effects and whatever that you think it’s necessary to get the proper final outcome. Now in this tutorial, we will focus our vision and Ps knowledge as you get the text like if it’s were created using the carbon fiber metal.
Resources (all credits goes to original authors)
- Images used :
- Brushes used :
Step 01
- Open Adobe Photoshop create a new document. The document size will be 3000×2000 px for the size. Save it as Carbon Fiber Effect’s.psd.
Step 02
- Now for the logo we will use the Design Optimal icon, the same vector icon that we created in the previous tutorial. All the necessary steps for making that logo are here.
Step 03
- Now place the logo that has been supplied with the resources in Ps and center it.
Step 04
- Now as the next step place, the Cold Carbon Wall paper that has been mentioned in resources section, place it in the background of the Ps document.
- And now use the other carbon fiber texture named nano_honeycombe_1680x1050_by_blakegedye-d2lfom5 and place it in the top of the layer that we just added and starch it till it fits the document borders and make the Blending option to Darker Color and Opacity to 10%.
Step 05
- As for the next step we will add a carbon fiber texture to the “DO” logo. For that use the other texture called Nanosuit_Texture_Wallpaper_2_by_blakegedye and mask it to the “DO” logo.
Step 06
- Now we will add a stroke around the “Do” logo and make it looks with a little bit depth. The stroke is 13px and the color is 1a1d23.
Step 07
- As for the next step, select all layers with the Do logo and carbon fiber texture and duplicate the layers.
- Now merge them and rasterize the layers and make sure only to select the middle of the logo.
- Now by using the pen tool, remove the fill of the DO text and keep only the stroke.
- Now mask the stroke with the same carbon fiber texture that we used for the DO text.
Step 08
- Now after masking those, add a small inner shadow to the stroke layer that we masked the texture.
Step 09
- Now we will add a bit of drop show to the main Do logo. The parameters will be as shown in the below image.
Step 10
- No we have reached the final steps for the tutorial now we will use the Spray-Paint-Splatter-Brushes-74544652 that we have mentioned in resources. Now installed it to Ps and use it as the next couple of steps.
- Now we will select a small light green color and start using the brushes after you have loaded it to brushed pallet.
- Now remember we will only do these spray paint effect only in the original “Do” logo layer with the masked carbon fiber texture.
- Now on the top of that we will add a spray paint texture one on one each layer and blend it to show as if the logo is already sprayed here and there without an order.
- The colors a like this :
- For the first green color blend it in to vivid color
- For the next red color blend it into color
- For the next yellow color blend it in to color dodge
- For the next blue color blend it in to color dodge
- For the next brown color use color dodge
Step 11
- After that step we will add brightness contrast layer and layer adjustment curves to the top of the layers.
Step 12
- Now as for the final step we will add a black fill in the top of the layers and below the adjustment layers.
- Now after filling it get a blur brush around 2400 px and erase the black fill in the area around where the main artwork is placed.
