How to Create a Cool Hover Robot Character using Adobe Illustrator

Hello Guys! Today we are going to show you how to create Cool robot Character using Adobe Illustrator. It may take some times as we have to design the body parts for the robot separately. Anyway every detail is included on the tutorial steps so you won’t miss anything. Ok it’s time to get started.

Step 01

  • Open Adobe Illustrator and create a new document of A4 size, and make it a Landscape mode save it as Robot Character.ai.

Step 02

  • Now as the first step in making the Character we will have to make a Circle and fill it with a light gray color.
  •  Then select an half of the circle, delete it, then only an half of the circle will be remaining.

  • Now again make another circle. This time make it oval in shape and keep the width of the circle as the width of the half sized circle.

Step 03

  • Now create another oval shaped circle inside of the newly created circle and place it as the image shown below.

Step 04

  • As the next step, we will duplicate the newly created shape composition. Then rotate and re-size it as shown in next couple of images.

Step 05

  • Now again make another oval shape but this time make it bit smaller than the previous oval shape that we created. Then we will be using a gradient for the fill of it.
  • Then Select the half of the oval shape circle then delete it.
  • Duplicate the half circle and keep it bit above the previous oval shape half circle and join the two ending points of the half oval shapes.
  • The process is shown below.

Step 06

  • Now use the newly created shape and keep it on the between of the previously created shape compositions, like if it’s a neck that joins the two shape together.

Step 07

  • Now we will add some details to the shapes like if the robots parts are joined together in a mechanism that is created in an assembly line.
  • We will use a 1px stroke with a color of #999999 grey color and start drawing the joining parts of the robot.
  • The process is shown below.

Step 08

  • So as the next step we will make the eyes of the robot. Create another circle like the one shown below.

  • Now take the polygon tool and create a polygon inside of the circle shape and place it in center of it.

  • Now as the next step of the eye, we will make a small oval shape with white fill and keep it on top of the circle shape, like if the eye is shin with light. The opacity is 50%.

  • Now group the whole object and resize the eye for the width and height will be 24px, 24px. Then place it on top of the robot head part as shown in the next image.

Step 09

  • Now to create the power beam of the chest area of the robot as if in Ironman. The process is shown below.

  • Now group the whole object and place it on the chest area of the robots body as shown below.

Step 10

  • Now to add more details of the robots body as the head area we will add more strokes as earlier. The process shown below the color and the width of the strokes are the same as earlier.

Step 11

  • Now again create another oval shape with grey fill color using the circle tool. These will be the areas of where the robots hands come out.

  • Duplicate it as the above shapes. With the reflect tool, Now place them as the next image shown below.

Step 12

  • Now we will create a hand of the robot the process is shown below.

  • Now again reflect and make another duplicate of the hand. Place it as shown below in the areas where the robots hands come out.

Step 13

  • Now create another circle behind the whole robot art work. The color is #0071BC.
  • Now add the glistening areas of the robot as if the whole robot is inside of a protective glass ball and like if it can hover above. The process is shown below.

Step 14

  • Now create another circle below the whole artwork of the robot and fill it with a light grey color as if to show the robot is hovering above the ground. The opacity is 50% the color code is # E6E6E6.
